Are you curious about painting with a palette knife? Or with more texture? Or with more imagination? Or maybe just curious about oil painting in general? Then we may have the thing just for you. This painting workshop, with Montgomery-based artist Alisa Koch, is for all experience levels.

Materials are provided! Bring a paper towel roll, pack a lunch, and come ready to enjoy the creative process. Then take home your oil painting(s) to enjoy.

$100 per person. AG member discount reimbursed in person at the workshop with proof of membership.

Alisa Koch works in oil with the use of a palette knife. Her pieces have been best described as moody and evocative landscapes.

Alisa strives to harness nature’s “movement” in her work. Each brush stroke pushes and pulls right to the edge of losing the color it needs to be. She focuses on the shapes and patterns of nature and the effect they have on the senses. She finds delight in the struggle and reconciliation between her mind’s ability to understand what is tugging at her soul and her artistic ability to communicate even the most minor revelations to others through her work.

Materials and tools will be available to help you realize your vision for your Peep diorama for the National Library Week contest on April 15. Bring a shoebox or something of a comparable size to be the base of your diorama. Dioramas may not be larger than 18”x18”x18” and must be freestanding.
