CITY OF HOOVER PREPARES TO CLIMB IN REMEMBRANCE OF THOSE LOST ON 9/11
_________________________

The Hoover Fire Department is inviting the community to join with them as they "Climb to Remember" those lost in the terrorist attacks that took place on September 11, 2001.
That day, 343 fire fighters and seventy police officers lost their lives inside the World Trade Center in New York City.

This year's event will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022 at the Riverchase Galleria Mall. It will begin at 9:00 am. The guest speaker will be retired Brigadier General Paul A. Pocopanni, who spent thirty-nine years in the Alabama Air National Guard.

Following the program, participants will begin the climbing portion of the program inside the Offices at 3000 Riverchase. Climbing those stories eight and a half times is equivalent to 110 stories, which is how high New York firefighters climbed on  9/11 in an effort to save lives.

The cost to participate in The Climb is $30. This includes: registration, a commemorative t-shirt and a boxed lunch. Each registered participant will also get a lanyard with the name and face of a public safety official who lost their life during the terrorist attacks.

There is also an option not to climb, but to submit a donation. There will also be a limited supply of t-shirts available for sale. Proceeds will go to the Hoover Public Safety Foundation. There will also be a limited supply of t-shirts available for sale.
