It was supposed to be a fun, leisurely afternoon of playing outside. But before long, that changed for 11-year old Glavin Sparks and 11-year old Cayden Harbert of Hoover. On Saturday, July 16th, Glavin and Cayden were out playing in the Lake Wilborn Community when they smelled smoke. They went to investigate the smell and saw smoke pouring from a home. They quickly notified Glavin's mom who called 911. Because of the boys' knowledge, bravery and quick actions, neighbors were able to save the homeowner's family dog through the garage. Chief Benlty awarded the two young men with certificates, a challenge.
