CITY OF HOOVER HOSTS CITY WIDE CAREER FAIR

For the first time in its 55-year history, the City of Hoover will hold a city-wide career fair in an unprecedented effort to recruit new employees across various city departments.
 
The fair will be held from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, at the Finley Center located on the campus of the Hoover Met Complex. The address is: 5508 Stadium Trace Parkway.
 
The effort comes as the COH faces the challenge many municipalities across the U.S. are presently dealing with--recruiting and retaining a strong, committed post-Covid workforce.

City officials point to several unique employee benefits that are offered including tuition reimbursement, education incentives, free employee gym memberships and a pension program through state retirement system

PICKLEBALL ACTION HOT IN HOOVER

The sights and sounds of pickleball have filled the Finley Center this week as the USA Pickleball Association holds its Indoor National Championships.  Competition features 750 amateur and professional players from representing 33 states and 4 countries. 
This is the second year the event has been held in Hoover. 

"We love it here.  It's like a family reunion for us," says Karen Parrish, USA Pickleball Director of Competition. "The City of Hoover, Harry Leckemby and the Finley Center staff treat you like family. It was an easy decision to come back."

Tournament play will continue through Saturday. The event is free and open to the public.  You can also watch livestream play of the pro championship rounds on Friday and Saturday on the USA Pickleball Association's YouTube channel:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsug6M_733A

HOOVER ARTS COUNCIL SEEKS NEW BOARD MEMBER

Are you a big supporter of the arts? Have you been looking for an opportunity to serve in the City of Hoover? What if you could do both at the same time?  The Hoover City Clerk is accepting letters of interest and resumes for the Hoover Arts Council.

Letters of interest and resumes must be hand delivered or emailed to the Hoover City Clerk's office no later than 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 13, 2022.

HOT ROD POWER TOUR RETURNS TO HOOVER

After a three year hiatus, the Hot Rod Power Tour will roll through Hoover next week. The event, which features over 1,000 cars and trucks will be held Wednesday, June 15th at the Hoover Met Complex.  

"We call this America's largest road trip," says Motor Trend Group representative Betsy Bennett. "It'll feature thousands of cars and trucks, live entertainment, a sponsor and vendor midway, AutoCross, dyno competitions and more."

Every year, the event moves through different areas of the country. Last year, it featured the midwest. This year, the traveling car show will begin in Memphis and wind its way through Tennessee, Alabama, Florida and Georgia before ending at the Atlanta Motor Speedway on June 17th. The tour will travel over a thousand miles before it's done.

Donations Needed!!  Please visit the Finley Center on Monday, June 13th to help save a life and keep a heart beating. The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 9:00am until 2:00pm.
