Veterans Park on Valleydale

Veterans Park on Valleydale is an 82-acre Hoover park located on Valleydale road in front of Spain Park High School. The park opened in 2007 and features a challenging 5K crushed gravel course around lakes and through the woods. The park also includes three pavilions, restrooms, three sand volleyball courts, and two playgrounds; one of which is accessible.

Veterans Park also features a courtyard that consists of brick pavers that honor the military. Brick pavers can be purchased for $100 each to honor a veteran. To purchase a brick paver, please complete the Paver Application.

Hours & Restrictions

Veterans Park on Valleydale is open daily from dawn until dusk. Reservations will not be accepted for events to be held after dark / closing hours. Veterans Park on Valleydale will remain open to the public during all events.


Host an Event

Veterans Park is a beautiful place to host a variety of gatherings.  The park serves as the location for many Hoover High School and Spain Park High School cross country meets in addition to numerous regional and collegiate cross country championships. The City of Hoover also hosts Celebrate Hoover Day and the Hoover Hayride and Family Night at the park that draws thousands of attendees annually.


For smaller gatherings, like a family picnic or birthday party, no rental is necessary and pavilions are first come, first served basis. If you are interested in hosting a larger event at Veterans Park on Valleydale, please contact Kaly Bertella at (205) 739-6704.
